what is this project?

“We Are All Connected: A Resource for Engaging Native Men in Creating Healing Communities for Relatives Who Have Been Sexually Exploited” is a tool designed to help community members learn together. Facilitators do not have to be experts in CSE, working with victims, community engagement, or even adult learning. Rather, what is needed is someone (we recommend having two co-facilitators) willing to connect with others in the community, using love, respect, bravery, truth, honesty, humility, and wisdom. Lesson plans, discussion guides, and facilitation tips will be provided.

We Are All Connected is designed to guide communities through four phases of learning. There are 10 topic areas (or, modules) that help people of all learning styles and levels of awareness increase their knowledge, engage in critical thinking, and become good relatives to those who have been harmed through sex trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE).

how to use this resource?

While sex trafficking and other forms of CSE have disproportionately impacted Native women and girls, in order to make change, we need all our relatives. We Are All Connected specifically invites men into this space, and can be a helpful tool for use by:

  • Father’s groups or other men’s programs;

  • Native community programs;

  • Students, student organizations, and youth groups (age 13 and up);

  • Recovery groups; sobriety support groups;

  • Foster parents and licensing social workers;

  • Community clubs and civic organizations;

  • Bible study groups, ministry organizations, and places of worship;

  • Volunteer organizations;

  • Community-based domestic violence or sexual assault programs (including those programs which work specifically with individuals involved in commercial sexual exploitation);

  • Local human trafficking task forces;

  • Places of employment and professional development programs;

  • Culturally-specific organizations and programs; and more.
